Hello, perhaps you can redirect or give me some simple advice.
i have version 9 of xplane and the latest openscenery installation.
it is simple enough to download extra airplanes, but since days i have tried to install extra scenery, by downloading the installer and for example zurich aiport (opensceneryx)
but nowhere can i find a word on how to make the objects appear… what is it i am doing wrong?
thanks so much in advance for a word of advice.
david (Deeceel)
Hi David,
If you have downloaded and run the OpenSceneryX installer, and if it says that your OpenSceneryX install is up-to-date then you’ve done everything right with respect to OpenSceneryX. You say you have downloaded Zurich, where have you installed it to?
Austin.
I have downloaded the Windows installer and tried to run it (several times).
Everytime following error message appears when I hit the “GO” button:
“An exception of class NilObjectException was not handled. The application must shut down.”
I am using Windows Vista Home Edition and have Xplane installed in the C:\Program Files\X-Plane 9\” folder.
Can somebody help me?
Regards,
Ruud
Hi Ruud,
We’ve come across this once before and never got to the bottom of the problem. There is a new version of the installer under development, would you be willing to test it to see whether it does the same thing?
Austin.
Hi Austin,
No problem testing (as long as it will not srew my PC completely)
Ruud
Austin
I’d be happy to test it as well as I tried to install it this evening and got the same error
Could I also try the beta version.
Andy
Hi Andy. Sure, I’ll send you an email.
The same thing is happening to me on windows 7 64 bit using xplane 10. what should i do?
Hi, have you tried the beta version of the installer, linked from the top of this page?
I tried following the install scenery into the Custom Scenery Folder, but I got a message that said that I can’t modify it.
Also, I downloaded all the library into an older installation do I have to do another library installation into a reinstallation to my other HD, or if it will let me, can I copy and paste from the first installation and if so, where is the data?
thanks
Hi Glenn,
Your first problem is unusual. Do you have permission to read and write your X-Plane folder? The fact that you can install it onto a different HD makes me think you might have installed X-Plane using an administrator account but are running the installer under a different account.
For your second question, all files are installed into X-Plane/Custom Scenery/OpenSceneryX/ so you can just copy that folder across if you wish.
A.
“An exception of class NilObjectException was not handled. The application must shut down.”
How do I solve this problem?
I am using Vista Ultimate
Leen de Jager
I’ve finally been able to borrow a machine with Vista installed and have seen this bug for myself. I’m tracking it down right now and will release a new version of the installer as soon as it’s fixed.
Hi Aussi,
I found the answer to the problem.
My X-Plane folder is positioned in /programfiles(86).
Due to the security-factors in Vista this is an area OpensceneryX cannot write to.( administrator-only )
I made a fake X-Plane 9 folder containing a Custom Scenery folder on my desktop.
I directed the OpensceneryX exe to this folder and everything worked OK.
Probable it is not possible to implement something in your programsoftwarwe wich can deal with this phenomena.
Now ceated a folder C:\X-Plane9-Receive\Custom Scenery periodically downloading to this folder and overwriting the files in the original one will do the trick.
Best regards
Leen de Jager
Forgot , to say , I am sure you know.
Installing/moving X-Plane to/in a place in the C:\ will do the trick.
Or let the administrator give OpensceneryX the right to acces C:\\program files(86)\X-Plane9\Custom Scenery\
Leen
Hi Leen, thank you for posting. I found a less-intrusive workaround which I posted about on Wednesday: http://www.opensceneryx.com/blog/2009/02/vista-vs-the-installer/
I am definitely looking at ways of solving this issue, as I certainly don’t expect end-users to download to different areas of their disk, or to run applications as an administrator, or to change permissions on folders to get it to work.
Vista’s user access control is a complete pain to work with. One possible solution is to detect if the installer is running as a non-admin user, and automatically re-launch it with admin privileges.
I’ll be working on this again as soon as I can.
Thanks Aussi,
Yes ,a less-intrusive workaround indeed.
I am such a dummy working with Vista.( and Vista is so tricky )
It works fine now, thaks again.

Leen de Jager
OS X 10.5.7
Just downloaded the OpenSceneryX installer but once unzipped and launched, there is no visible indication that there actually is an app, other than its icon bouncing in the dock.
Only way to stop it is to is to Force Quit the unresponsive app.
Any ideas?
Thanks for library.
Peter
Hi Peter,
Yours is the first report of the installer failing to launch for a Mac user. Could you try rebooting your machine and running it again? If that doesn’t work try downloading it again.
A.
Could you please tell me where Openscenery puts these files in the xplane folder? I can’t seem to find an Openscenery folder in the xplane folder
Thanks
Hi Brian,
The OpenSceneryX installer puts all the files into the ‘Custom Scenery’ folder in your XPlane folder.
A.
Hi everyone! I suppose this wonderful app. does not work with Windows 7 for the moment. Is there a chance to get new release working in this OS also? thks!
I don’t have Windows 7 yet. It would be great if you could try it out and let me know whether it works.
That’s the problem indeed! I have W7 and installing stop saying:
“An exception of class NilObjectException was not handled. The application must be shut down” …
This is all, unfortunately… please advise if you ate studing for a W7 compatible release …… thks!
I do have a pre-release test version of the next release of the installer available, which may or may not work on Windows 7. It would be great if you could test it, I’ve sent you an email.
Thank you very much for yuor help, now it works! !
Great to hear it’s working, thanks for letting me know!
I am a xplane 9 user and get the following error when i try and download the OpensceneryX using the windows installer. Any help would be appreciated. Error: “Central Directory not found; probably a damaged Zip file”
Hi Rich, could you let me know what happens if you quit the installer and try re-running it?
Your internet is not connected to get that error. It must be on.
I’ve tried several times to complete the installation. However each time download gets stuck at 3634 files to download.
File name /objects/buildings/airport/hangars/metal/5/object.obj
Any ideas?
Could you try the new beta version of the installer. It’s available from the top of this page.
Let me know whether that version works.
Hello, aussi,
Tried the beta version, and thanks for the suggestion, alas without success.
Downloaded 1386 with the same file baulking. (Is it a huge file?) Let the download keep trying for an hour but no progress.
By the way I completely deleted the previous part download to start afresh.
This is very strange. If you quit and re-launch the installer (without deleting your previous download), does it get stuck immediately (i.e. on the first file)?
The linux installer fails on Ubuntu 10.04 64bit.
./OpenSceneryX\ Installer
/usr/lib/gio/modules/libgvfsdbus.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64
Failed to load module: /usr/lib/gio/modules/libgvfsdbus.so
Hi Marc, I’m sorry to hear you’re having problems. Could you try the latest beta version of the installer, available from the top of this page.
Let me know whether that version works.
Cheers,
Austin.
Hello Austin,
I used the linux installer version 2.0.0 beta 3 you proposed. It worked perfect and completed a full install of the opensceneryx data.
Operating system:
Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 64 bit, gnome window system. All updates applied and no custom packages installed.
Thank you for the quick response and support.
Cheers,
Marc
That’s great to hear, thanks for letting me know.
Hi,
i use Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Linx and installer doesn’t work. It can’t find libstdc++.so.5.
Synaptic don’t know libstdc++5 by default.
You need update the depot with this address :
deb http://cz.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty main universe
(replace “cz.archive.ubuntu.com” by local server founded on http://packages.ubuntu.com/jaunty/i386/libstdc++5/download)
Refresh your synaptic library and install libstdc++5
Hi, thanks for the info. Could you try the latest beta version of the installer, which is available from the top of this page.
Please let me know whether it works better.
There’s another new beta available (v2.0.0b4) that may help with Linux library issues too. See the top of this page for the download link.
Hi Austin,
I am using the latest installer (2.0.ob3-windows) but it keeps stopping after downloading objects/shared_textures/falcon/texture.png
I have deleted the openscenery directory and tried starting from scratch, but it always stops here. Seems like a problem expanding/unzipping this texture?
Thanks
Hi Gordon, that’s a very strange problem as that file doesn’t exist in OpenSceneryX! Have you reported the correct path of the file that is failing?
I tried to try the beta version (OpenSceneryX-Installer-2.0.0b3-Linux.tgz). It won’t decompress with the given file extension .tgz, but only after I changed it to .gz (command file says: OpenSceneryX-Installer-2.0.0b3-Linux.tgz: gzip compressed data). Decompressed I had another file with wrong extension, namely none: OpenSceneryX-Installer-2.0.0b3-Linux: gzip compressed data. This file would also only extract after I changed the extension to .gz. That gave me a tar archive which had no file extension again, but finally had the contend inside I was looking for.
I know it’s a beta, but you might want to change that (tar -czf OpenSceneryX-Installer-2.0.0b3-Linux.tar.gz OpenSceneryX\ Installer/).
Thank you for the report – we’ll take a look and fix this for the next beta.
Hey,
I am loving x-plane however I have been trying to install openscenerx for quite a while now. I have no problem at first, but when I start to down load the messge “NilObject exeption was not handeled, and forces me to shut down the application. I am currently runnign on an Imac OS X snow leopard and would really enjoy having some of the scenery that requires this program.
Thanks for any help you might have.
I’m sorry you’re having trouble, have you tried the latest beta, linked at the top of this page?
Yes I have, and I have no problems until I come to the actual download, finding the X-Plane folder and so on are no problem. Seconds into the download it comes up with the message ” a Nil Object Exeption was not handled” and forces a shut down of OpensceneryX.
Don’t worry too much about fixing I still enjoy X-Plane but would enjoy some of the extra scenery. Thanks.
P.S. Any change you could possibly include this scenery library in XP 10?
Any way to get the installer to skip a file and continue? I have the same problem as Gordon posted about above. The latest beta installer for Mac hangs on the falcon/dhl/texture_LIT.png file. When I use the non-beta installer an error message is posted saying the file cannot be extracted with an error code of -3.
Not sure the error on this file can be fixed, but with 4,000 left to go I’m wondering if there is a way to get the rest of the package at least?
Hi Jeff, I’ve just tested an install with all of Falcon’s files being downloaded and extracted successfully. I guess it’s possible your ISP has a proxy which has broken one of the files that OpenSceneryX is trying to download. You could try downloading and extracting that file manually by hitting it in a web browser on the following URL:
texture_LIT.png.zip
If that works then you could extract it and place it in the right place in your OpenSceneryX folder:
[X-plane]/Custom Scenery/OpenSceneryX/objects/shared_textures/falcon/dhl/texture_LIT.png
I hope that helps, I’ve verified that the file downloads and extracts fine from here.
Hello,
Linux Mint 10 – 2.6.35-28-generic-pae, (i386). Trying to extract the contents of OpenSceneryX-Installer-2.0.0b4-Linux BETA, however the archive extraction fails with:
tar: This does not look like a tar archive
tar: Skipping to next header
tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors
Via command line:
xxxx@Linux-SX58 ~/Download $ tar -zxvf OpenSceneryX-Installer-2.0.0b4-Linux.tgz
tar: This does not look like a tar archive
tar: Skipping to next header
tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors
Most appreciative in advance. Thank you.
Disregard my last post – the extension renaming that the gentleman described earlier for the 2.0.0b3-linux beta worked out well here also.
Linux Mint 10. OpenSceneryX-Installer-2.0.0b4-Linux BETA.
The installer creates the directory structure within the Custom Scenery folder in XP9, however the folders that should have files in them are empty.
Hello,
I’m attempting to install OpenSceneryX using the 2.0.0b4 installer. When it get’s to checking the local files against the server, it errors out with “There was a problem with the list of files downloaded from the server, please try again later. (1) Internal error (exception)”
When I had tried with an older installer it simply hangs when trying to download the file list from the server. Is there a port I need to open for the installer? or is 80 sufficient?
Thanks!
Hi, sorry you were having trouble. We have been having some intermittent issues with our hosting that may have caused this issue, hopefully this is resolved now.
Hello.
I’ve a problem in order to install OpenSceneryX-Installer-2.0.0b4-Linux (using Ubuntu 10.04 64bits):
In the step “Compare Local to Remote” appears a message like this (traduced from spanish): “There is a problem with files list downloaded from server. Please, try later. (1) internal error (exception)”
Also, I tried to use OpenSceneryX-Installer-2.0.0b4-Windows (under Wine) and appears the same message.
I only could install opensceneryx with windows standard installer (not beta) under wine.
Is a general error?
Thanks for your answer
I think this was a problem with our hosting and (should) be resolved now.
Hi,
I have this message with beta4 on Ubuntu 11.04 on 64 bits architecture with Gnome 3 :
ZLibStream fatal error: zlib library is missing at /usr/lib/libz
I tried to install it (I’ve seen the Installer is a 32 bits file, so I’ve installed 32 bits packages with –force-arch) but the result is the same.
Any idea ? Do I forget something ?
Hi, I’m afraid that if it doesn’t work after installing 32 bit libraries then you may have to wait for a 64 bit version to arrive. According to the vendor of the cross-platform development environment we use, this is likely to be first quarter 2012.
Hi there! Looks like the Linux installer has a whole bunch of unresolved dependencies on 64 bit Debian. Most of the gtk libriaries aren’t available as lib32 versions:

Any chance of a proper 64 bit build? Or any suggestions on what to do — perhaps downloading library files without an installer? If I’ve read correctly you did not see a point in open-sourcing the installer without the libs being (L)GPL, but this does indicate to me that it would make sense. Having the source, I could recompile it for 64 bit myself…
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Vik
Hi Vik, thanks for the report. It’s something we’re aware of, but can’t do much about it at the moment. We use a cross-platform development tool called Real Studio, and they haven’t updated the tool to compile natively for 64 bit yet. This is slated for ‘First quarter 2012’ release at the moment, and I’ll update the OSX installer as soon as possible after it’s available.
I need some help, I have downloaded the OpenSceneryX Installer and have run it, but when I download new scenery where do i put them? I have added them to the custom scenery file but… I don’t see the enhancements… what am I dong wrong?
sorry I have downloaded this for my MAC using the mac installer
Hi, you’ve put them in the right place (Custom Scenery folder). Are you sure that the scenery you’ve downloaded has been enhanced with OpenSceneryX objects?
I have loaded OSx Dev 1.11.0 and downloaded Overlay Editor 204 for mac. Upon activating OE it pops up momentarily then disappears, no application running.
I am on a iMac i3 running OSX 10.7.2
Any ideas? I would really enjoy developing some scenery for my home airport KABE
Hiya, I’m afraid I can’t help with OE issues – You’ll have to get in touch with Jonathan at his site: http://marginal.org.uk/x-planescenery/tools.html or alternatively use the official X-Plane WED from here: http://wiki.x-plane.com/Scenery_Tools
Thanks for the references, hope these help.
I am also having troubles installing new custom scenery. I downloaded the airport KMGM and dropped it into the appropriate file. Used the new installer. Load xplane 10 and go to that airport, but no buildings, no terminal, etc. Am I doing something wrong?
Hi,
When you say you installed it to the appropriate place, was that your ‘Custom Scenery’ folder?
I put it in /Custom Scenery/OpenSceneryX and ran the installer. After running the installer I noticed that several files that used to be in the airport folder disappeared. So I put a brand new copy of the file and ran the installer again (I also used the beta installer) and the files disappeared again. So I assume the files where installed, however, when I open up Xplane and go to the airports, (I installed two different ones) neither on had the buildings, terminals etc. that appear in the demo image.
Sorry, I’m a little confused. There are three things here:
1. The OpenSceneryX installer. This can go anywhere on your hard disk, but please don’t put it in the X-Plane/Custom Scenery/OpenSceneryX folder as the installer automatically manages the contents of that folder and will try to delete itself!
2. The airport package you downloaded from x-plane.org. This should be a folder and it should be placed in X-Plane/Custom Scenery/
3. The X-Plane/Custom Scenery/OpenSceneryX folder, which you should never touch, as the installer will add things to this and delete things from it automatically.
It sounds like you may have put your airport inside the OpenSceneryX folder, you shouldn’t do that.
Thanks for the help. I did put the airport files in the wrong place. I put them in the right place and that fixed everything! Thanks for the prompt help!
No problem, I’m glad it’s all working for you now!
Everyone who’s had trouble with the Windows installer recently, please try the latest beta 5 linked at the top of this page.

along with the information below.
../Common/plugin.cpp: 6893

The application cannot continue because a needed file cannot be installed. libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Hi, thats odd. The requirements for the installer should be libstdc++.so.6 so I’m not too clear why it’s trying to access libstdc++.so.5. I’ve raised a support request from the developers of the cross-platform IDE I use.
(moved to /support)
“Architecture not supported” and boom. Installer, she quit.
Is support for PPC Macs dropped?
OSX 10.5.8, PPC G5.
Yes, support for PPC has been dropped from the v2.0.0 installer, because the development environment we use no longer supports it. I’ll see if I can rake out an old version tonight and re-build the old installer with version checking disabled, so at least you can use it.
(moved to /support)
Ok, I’ve built a special version of the old installer as PPC only, which bypasses the version check. It’s available from here: http://www.opensceneryx.com/downloads/OpenSceneryX-Installer-1.2.0-Mac-PPC.zip This version will never be updated, but it should work until I restructure the library into modules, which won’t happen until (at the very earliest) the end of this year.
For those Linux users having trouble extracting the installer packaged as a .tgz, we’ve changed it to a .zip. The download link on the home page has been updated.
Hi, I’m trying to install OpenSceneryX on ubuntu 64 bit and while the installer works and downloads a load of files, it doesn’t seem to put them in the right folder inside X-Plane. I can see it download a lot of pngs which end up in /tmp and then obj files which just seem to appear for a second and then disappear again. I have no idea whats going on really. All the folders have been created in X-Plane/Custom Scenery/OpenSceneryX but there aren’t any files.
Thanks 🙂
Hi, I’ve just tested on Ubuntu 64-bit (with ia32-libs package installed) and OpenSceneryX installs fine. Do you have any additional security features installed in Linux, for example SELinux?
No, I don’t use SELinux. My X-Plane installation is located on a separate partition though I doubt that would make a difference… Is there a debug mode or some kind of log I can check? I find it really strange that it downloads the files and then doesn’t copy them to the right folder.. :S Thanks for the help!
Ah, ok, the cross-partition configuration may be an issue. I’ll email you.
To follow up on this – there was an issue with v2.0.0 and v2.0.1 of the installer on Linux, when X-Plane is installed on a different partition or disk. This has been resolved for the next release (probably v2.0.2).
I had the same issue (Linux too) and wondered why after all that downloading the OpenSceneryX ended up with 2802 subfolders and 0 files (consuming around 10 MB).
Doh!
So thanks you for figuring this issue out. 🙂
Do you already have a release-date for the new installer (v2.0.2)?
Or any “official” advise on how to work around this?
My solution: create a faked/empty X-Plane-10 folder (with an empty “Custom Scenery”-folder) somewhere on the same partition as the “/tmp”-directory. Point the OpenSceneryX-installer to that directory.
Keep that folder in sync with your actual X-Plane10-installation.
Yet in my case this is still not satisfying, as /tmp recides on it’s own separate partition ….
and symbolic links do not trick the installer 🙁
I think that’s the best workaround solution. There haven’t been any further releases to OpenSceneryX since 2.0.0, and I’ll post here and on twitter when there is, so you don’t need to worry about keeping things in sync too often. I’ve had good reports about the installer v2.0.2 so if I have time I’ll release it this week-end.
Hi.
Not sure if this is the right place to post, but I encountered a problem trying to install the Mac version of OpenScenery, with a “nilobjectexception” error. My X-plane 10 is installed on an external drive.
Cheers.
Sorry for the delay in responding. The external drive issues should be resolved with the latest installer, so could you let me know the paths where you are running the installer from and where your X-Plane folder is located.
Hi,
Hope you can help me. I have the same issue but I’m using Windows 10. I have download the last version but i can’t install it.
Marc
Hi Marc,
Could you let me know what the problem is / what error is displayed?
Regards,
Austin.
I hope you can help… I’ve been trying to download opensceneryx to use some of the scenery package dowloads that require it. While downloading it using the installer, at 75% of all files downloaded (right after 737-800 easyjet), I get an error message that reads, “Error: “File does not appear to be a Zip file (‘PK’ header missing)” I’ve tried downloading it twice (including deleting the previous download) – same thing each time. I’m using Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and tried both Firefox and explorer as my browser. I’m new to X-Plane and at a loss. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,
– Dave
We had intermittent problems with servers occasionally last year, the server infrastructure has now improved so hopefully this issue is no longer happening.
There are some scenery packages that fail to load because of the following problem::
Failed to find resource ‘opensceneryx/objects/furniture/lights/flood.obj’ at ‘Custom Scenery/EDVK/opensceneryx/objects/furniture/lights/flood.obj’
Maybe this has changed from earlier version to the current one.
Is there any fix for this problem?
Yes, that was my own stupid mistake – I accidentally removed a library path from the 2.0.0 build. This is fixed in the next release, but to work around it you can edit the ‘library.txt’ file in Custom Scenery/OpenSceneryX and add the following line:
EXPORT opensceneryx/objects/furniture/lights/flood.obj objects/furniture/lights/flood/1/object.obj
the “install” for does not work, It only goes as far as maybe trying to install 43 out of 3600, then it just stops and I have to start over. I am running windows 8.1, I have the new X-plane 10, and I try and upload the “custom scenery” but then it has to be updated thru “open scenery x” and it sill will not continue to update the program, what am I doing wrong? can someone help me please
We had some problems with servers last year, which should be sorted now. If you’re still having problems, you can download the full zip file of the library from the OpenSceneryX home page.
Hello
Just tried to install OpenSceneryX for X-Plane for the first time and it keeps getting stuck on /objects/aircraft/jets/heavy/b737-800/easyjet/texture.png. Doesnt matter what I do, tried to delete and start again and still gets stuck on this file. Current file shows at 100% but the installation can go no further.
Please advise.
Thanks
Ed
Hi Ed,
Sorry about this – it’s a problem that I had thought we had squashed. Could you try something for me – Hit this URL in a web browser and let me know whether the file successfully downloads to your machine. Then try extracting the zip file – is there a texture inside?
Yep, downloads ok and there is an easyjet texture inside.
Thanks
Ed
Hi Ed,
Ok, now what happens if you move that texture into Custom Scenery/OpenSceneryX/objects/aircraft/jets/heavy/b737-800/easyjet/ and re-run the OSX installer?
Thanks, that has worked and the install completed.
Regards
Ed
Hi Ed,
That’s really good to hear, though very strange that it happened in the first place. The odd thing is that a few people have reported issues with that particular texture via the installer, yet there is nothing special about it. Can I just check – when you followed my previous instructions to manually download it, was there a texture with the same name already in the folder?
I just downloaded this. I’m running a Windows 7 so downloaded the windows version I’m running the 64 bit version of X plane 10 by Laminar Research. After I downloaded and installed the Opensceneryx I noticed it was only for 32 bit. Saw mention of another 32 bit download if your running 64 bit but looks like that is only for Linux. Anyway I’m not able to use this or the scenery I’ve been trying to install which requires OSX. Do I want to download the other 32 bit for Linux I mentioned above or is there something else I need to do? Any help would Greatly be Appreciated Thank You.
The installer should work fine on 64 bit Windows. If it doesn’t, could you let me know what error you are getting?
Receiving Failed to locate Framework DLL on Win10, any suggestions
Does this happen on the beta version of the installer too?
i started the installation, and it seemed to stop on a .forest file, after a while the installer crashed. ever since it has frozen and crashed on every .forest file
never mind, it must have been a server error as it is working fine now.
me and my big mouth, it stopped working again…
Sorry you’re having trouble. When you say it “crashes”, what exactly happens – is there an error or message displayed?
Also, has it now got past the forests?
Finally, what operating system and version are you using?
it just stops being open, no error
I fixed it by just downloading the zip package
I am on windows 10
i found a workaround: rename the exe, twice: once to another arbitrary name and second time back to the original name.
LONGER EXPLANATION: i downloaded the installer today (oct 29), and copied it as “C:\X-Plane 11\OpenSceneryX Installer”, then double-clicked the exe file within that folder — i’ve seen that sometimes a space in the folder name is not handled properly, so i copied the folder to C: but that did not fix it. so i renamed the exe itself to contain no spaces that generated a bunch of database-looking errors. renamed the exe BACK to include spaces and now it starts OK. i believe this implies that the permissions on the file were not set properly after unzipping it, so that it lacked the user’s permissions.
OUT OF THE BOX (without my file renamings): win10, version 1709, build 16299.248. the installer starts, then windows asks if i want to allow this app to change my system (i click on Yes) and then the installer disappears and nothing else seems to happen. it does not seem to crash (or windows would have told me that it crashed), but rather, seems to think that there is nothing to install.
Thank you very much for the extra info. I have been trying to replicate this problem on my Win 10 machines. I saw it once but unfortunately didn’t have the debugging tools running (sod’s law!) and have never seen it since – must have run the installer 50 times after deleting various parts of the opensceneryx install each time, including occasionally re-downloading it from the OSX site to add that into the mix. Interesting observation about renaming the exe after download, but I’m wondering whether it’s more random (bad) luck or a network issue causing the problem. Before you managed to fix it, was it crashing *every* time you ran it?
There is a new beta version of the Windows installer that should fix this: https://downloads.opensceneryx.com/OpenSceneryX-Installer-Windows-2.4.1b1.zip
Hallo , wieder ein kleines Problem ! X life installiert , dann kommt die Meldung : Abort !! OpenScenery X Library Not found at Customer Scenery folder. Please Download and Install it from http://www.opensceneryx.com ! Wie mache ich das auf dem Mac ?
Hello, just follow the instructions on the OpenSceneryX home page:
The latest installer gives a 404 error when trying to download a forest file and won’t progress beyond that file – I haven’t been able to catch which one. Unfortunately, since the installer deletes the old files before it downloads the new ones, OpenSceneryX is now broken on my installation. It causes X-Plane to crash so I have had to disable it. Is there a log file somewhere to look at?
The file that it errored on should be displayed on screen when it happens. Please re-run the installer to get to the error again, let me know the name of the file.
All I can see of the filename is “/Forests/Trees/usa/southwest_plateau_and_plains/woodywetland/forest.for…”
I don’t know if that is the full filename.
I’ll contact you by email to discuss further.
Hello, I’ve tried to download the opensceneryx but when i’m in the install page it says “the parameter is incorrect”
thanks for the help
Sorry you’re getting problems. Which language are you running the installer in?
hebrew
Ok, I’ve tracked this one down and it will be fixed for the next version of the installer.
When is the next version?
The next version is tied up with the 4.2.0 library release. Hoping to get both out within the next couple of weeks.
dude when you fix it i actually can’t use all the 3rd party sceneries because of this bug
Sorry, I have very little spare time at the moment and this is a voluntary project I do at evenings and weekends. As I said, I will try to get a new release out soon.
You can still run X-Plane without OpenSceneryX, you’ll just find that some scenery content is missing.
If you also want to avoid the error messages that X-Plane displays, you can install the Backup Library: https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/25033-backup-scenery-library/
This issue is now fixed, download the latest installer from the site homepage.
Hello, I downloaded Openscenery and installed it properly, and received no errors during the install. I can see the file under custom scenery.
My issue is: I can only see the textures for a custom airport, and not on any other airports? How do I enable the textures for all airports and not just the single custom airport?
Thank you!
Hi, I’m not too sure what you mean by textures. What specifically are you seeing and what are you expecting to see?
Oops! I’m sorry! I just realized it wasn’t you guys I was missing textures from!
Lol, I was missing some ground textures (taxiways/runways etc). Thank you, sorry again!
No problem!
Hello,
after installing osx x-p11 runs abs slowly – is doing nearly nothing.
Desktop PC i7; 3,7 GHz, 16 GB RAM, NVidia Quadro K4000 8 GB.
How can I eliminate all of this installion with no one file saved?
Thank you.
Hi, yes just go into your X-Plane/Custom Scenery/ folder and delete the OpenSceneryX folder.
